New York. It's been waiting for you.
(Of course I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to quote Miss Swift.)
Today I'm off to New York. I've been overdue for a trip, as the last trip I went on was England in 2012.. Which was, you know, three years ago. The clock has been ticking and my wanderlust has been wild and here we are, a few hours away from me leaving to a city I've been dreaming about for years.
When I first started writing for She Did What She Wanted, I don't think I really realized the impact that the girls (and the posts) would have on my life. Stina and Emma created something special; a place where girls can write about whatever the hell they want to write about. So when Stina gave me an open invitation to come visit her, I didn't hesitate and booked a flight to the city of bright lights and good bagels.
I'm an overthinker; I will think and think and think about something until I scare myself out of doing it. This usually happens with me and traveling. The stress of money, time, etc. usually makes me doubt it and never bother booking anything. But that July night when I literally texted Stina saying YOLO and booked that flight was validating. I can do this! Traveling alone is a first and I'm a bit anxious, but I think that'll change when I get to see the New York skyline at night.
So today I am off; to drink a lot of lattes and eat a lot of food and spend a lot of money and laugh with a a lot of girls. If there is one way to say goodbye to summer, I think this is it.
